April 9, 1974

Until I realized who I am as an amateur photographer and discovered my passion for it, I have been an ignorant and stubborn girl about film photography.  As a young thinker, I did not appreciate the history of how photography came about.  All I knew was that I had a Canon Powershot camera my parents rarely used and that it took amazing photos.  Then I wanted more out of it.  Upon (minor) research, digital single lens reflex's were considered the market's standard professional camera, notably the Canon 5D Mark II (now the Mark III for more than $3,000!).  It is widely used considering today's advanced technology but there were elements of seeing with photography that is lost and I wish I could jump in a time machine to feel the excitement touching chemicals in a dark room.

Now that I'm diving deeper into the realm of photography, film is an era I have ignored to let myself be exposed to. Obviously I cannot feel the experiences the 20th Century had with dark rooms and film rolls but it is still alive in people's hearts.  Many famous portrait photographers use a medium format camera that oozes creamy colors.  You can type in vintage film cameras on ebay and thousands of listings show, more than 70% priced for about half off or more of it's original value.  Nikon and I believe Ilford and other companies still produce film as long as they are still in demand.   Unfortunately, they are priced the in the same range as full frame DSLR's so I won't be obtaining those.  There is so many other options to choose so that's why I am on hunt of vintage film cameras.  To devour the feeling of exposing to my liking, teaching me to be a patient person, and anticipating for the negatives to show me what I have to offer.  Spark my creativity to a new level.

I hope to find a part of me that'll help me define my way of seeing.  If you happen to own a metal built film camera from the 1960's  + collecting dust in your storage room or know someone who does, tell me!  I might consider purchasing it =)  If you have any experience with film, tell me your story.  I would love to hear about it.

Now onto the baby (my collection of film cameras is brewing).  I recently purchased a Polaroid SX-70, which produces instant images.  If you know what Instagram or Fuji Instanx is, that's the kind of images and type of film that this lovely beauty executes.  It arrived in a box labeled fragile, incased with colorful peanuts, and taped within massive layers of bubble wrap.  Unwrapping the beauty felt so amazing in between my  fingers.  Chrome lining frames the tan leather of the body.  The eye socket staring right at me, screaming to develop instant images.  I love it so much.  I cannot wait to test it out once I buy the Impossible Project's PX 70 film pack.  Molded and dreampt by Mr. Land; serialized in April 9, 1974 <3

I have another beautiful film camera that I bought last a week at a thrift store.  I have yet to touch it's setting to the best of it's abilities but once I get the hang of it, I will share my experience.  It's nothing popular branded like Minolta, Mamiya, Nikon, etc.  It can, however, produce stunning images.  I know it!  Stay tuned for photos of the new addition.

This is a must share. The illuminating colors painted in the sky at around 8PM was too magnificent to not grab my camera.

Ready or Not: White

This challenge sure was challenge!  I could not come up with a single thing to capture.  White?  Odd enough, I felt color blind.  This was when I stepped outside of the box; not to think so much about symbols and just compose what I see. I never realized how much the color white surrounds us.  Green and blue always stood out to me.  I am quite proud of these =)

Ready or not, other talented ladies have more goodies to share: Jackie, Jean, Ellie, and our new addition to the group = Allison!

Valley of the Blues

Blue. It's the color I wear about 75% of the time.  The color that defines me.  Surrounds me.  I like all shades of blue.  My favorite out of the bunch is teal.  Seafoam green too.  I enjoyed this week's color <3

My brother is such a GQ model.  Since birth, I've recorded his growth.  I sure have taught him well!

Want more blue-ness?? Jackie, Jean, and Ellie can show you more!

C O L D P L A Y 7 7 7

Coldplay, you create the MOST amazing NIGHT for every person who attends your concert.  A memorable, stunning, beautiful, inspiring, oozing with magic in my ears night--doesn't matter how much you pay for their tickets, it's a must attend concert!!!  Confetti illuminates the arena, balloons bouncing from person to person, lights flashing estatically, chanting of fans, the love and energy is in everyone.  In all honesty, even the cheapest tickets at $25 would make you feel like you are experiencing everything Coldplay planned for their fans.  Wherever you are in the world, if you are contemplating on a concert to go to, definitely hit up Coldplay's.  You won't regret it.  Google their reviews if you don't believe me.

Finally the best image of all, Coldplay's panorama <3

I am a happy girl. Aug 11, 2012 marks the band 777th concert <3

Lost in the Yellow Sea

Literally, for the past week, I feel as though I am floating, doing my best to stay above water until I land on shore.  The sea has been overwhelming because what is school best at?  Stressing you out with their destructive crunch time! I am the type of person who studies but multi-task on stupidity on the side.  One of them being, Avatar [TV series--not the movie! nonono].  It's officially my second re-run and I am not saying that it's a stupid series, but my actions are stupid.  Watching movies and such is my way of coping with my stress.  My final exam is today and have watched midway of Part II: Sozin's Comet--half an hour left and I am done with it.  So bad, I know.

So I apologize for the late submission.  Uploading this right before I head out to take my exam.  I can almost taste complete freedom!

For those who don't know, this is Rosalina from Mario.  Whoever is her voice actor has such an attractive voice.  It's very sensual and low for a woman, which my ear adores.  When I hear those kind of voices, I imagine myself as Ursela, capturing their voices into a necklace.  Scratch that--into a jar like fireflies.  This concept was spontaneously made when I awoke Wednesday morning of last week.  My brother left two of the yellow balls on the floor so I thought, 'hey, it's yellow!' I'm quite simple-minded.  I had Rosalina prompt up and continously set up the yellow balls in different positions then stepping out and pressing the shutter release.  It was a fun project!

As the Japanese would say 'Furaido Poteto' [ フライドポテト ].  Original plan was to take a picture of all the yummy goodness.  As you can see, it failed and I am left to show you my empty french fry container.

Follow Jackie, Jean, Mary on our lovely yellow adventure. Never noticed how warm and inviting the color is~

Dream Drop Distance [Day 006 + 007] & School Supply

Ack! Been procrastinating like crazy. What to do when the summer is ending and people are trying to cram everything in before school begins? I know, PLAY KINGDOM HEARS: DREAM DROP DISTANCE!! Picked up my copy of the Master Collection two days ago and I have never felt so happy [materialistically] in a while.

July 31, 2012

This version was expensive, for those who don't know I don't purchase video games nor play them often, and I will honestly have to say it's freakin' awesome. Kingdom Hearts is 10 years old this year so DDD is their 10th anniversary present for the fans. I am not a hardcore gamer, so this game fits me perfectly. Easy game play, beautiful art, includes wonderful characters from Disney and Final Fantasy, and the storyline is phenomenally told.

The smell of the box, art cards, and game is heaven. I have to write a 3-page essay answering a a set of questions about a man who survived in Auschwitz by Wednesday of next week and here I am, taking photos and playing KH: 3D nonstop.

It's addicting.

August 2, 2012

It's that time of year for school supply shopping. This fall I am taking O' Chem, Cell Bio, and Philosophy of the Arts--which means I only need a limited amount of folders, paper, notebooks, pens, pencils, etc. It has been a ritual of mine to use Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls folder for all my classes. I wanted to do something different, maybe save less, so I bought a binder to keep all my work in one place. I picked up a 1 in. But. I think I am going to need at least a 3 in for all my soon-to-be powerpoint slides from O'Chem and Cell Bio. Nevertheless, I went crazy when I accidentally walked into a special aisle just a few footsteps away from the cheap school supply section at Target. Mickey and Minnie Mouse were glossed everywhere from notebooks to folders, apparel, and more! I couldn't pass up my chance to collect these Disney products. No way do I plan on using them. It's now a part of my collectables!
